How Many Videographers Do You Really Need?

This is one of the most common questions we get. Do I really need 2 videographers?! We’re going to teach you an easy way to answer that question. Are you ready? Ask yourself this… how many photographers do I have?

If your photography package came with 1 photographer than 1 videographer is doable. If your photography package came with 2 photographers you’ll most likely want 2 videographers. The general rule of thumb should be 1 videographer for every photographer you have. It’s that simple! Let’s talk about why that works.

X Photographers = X Videographers… why this test works!

Here is why that rule works. When it comes to weddings, your photographer is often the vendor designing your timeline. That means they’re going to design that timeline around the amount of people they have.

It’s common for bride prep and groom prep to happen at the same exact time when you have 2 photographers. So if you have 2 photographers and 1 videographer; you now have a problem. Now you have to sacrifice a part of the day since one person can’t be in two places at once. There are work arounds for this and some vendors prefer to only have 1 shooter no matter what. But the general rule of thumb of X Photographers = X Videographers (i.e. 1 Photographer = 1 Videographer … 2 Photographers = 2 Videographers) will usually make your day flow effortlessly and stress free.
