The Ingredients
It’s no secret that wedding photographers and wedding filmmakers love to geek out over gear. The most common questions I get from friends in the industry are “what camera was that shot on?” or “what lens did you use?” or “what luts do you guys use for color grading?!” — So let’s talk about! Keep in mind that my gear bag is always adding and subtracting things but for the most part, this is what you’ll find in my camera bag.

Frequently Asked Questions
You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers — maybe…
What is your education background?
I have a very crazy education background ranging from Nuclear Engineering all the way to filmmaking. Technically I did go to film school at Full Sail University. But, I can honestly say when it comes to wedding filmmaking I learned more from workshops like Ray Roman’s Master The Moment and Philip White’s Wedding Filmmaking Master Class than I did film school. I’ll put links to both below.

Some other great education resources are FilmRiot on Youtube and all of the MasterClasses by famous authors. You read that right. I’m a huge fan of studying how authors think and how the structure stories and then reverse engineering those principles for wedding filmmaking. If you don’t have a membership to MasterClass check out Stephen King’s book “On-Writing.”
Have you won any awards?
We have won many film festivals for our documentary work including the Nassau Film Festival, Impact Doc Awards, Saints & Sinners Festival and many more. We’ve also won the usual awards that everyone in the industry wins such as the Wedding Wire Award and The Knot Couples Choice Awards.
What is your wedding filmmaking philosophy?
My philosophy and our whole brand is built around providing our clients with a stress free experience. I want to fit into their day and add to it rather than take away from it. I try to walk the tight rope between capturing real moments and setting up epic shots. I’d like to believe our brand is the perfect mix of photo journalism and cinematic filmmaking. We’re there to make everyone and every vendor’s day better!
Are you available to associate or second shoot?
I love to second shoot for friends and cool people! I tend to not associate shoot anymore. If you’re interested in chatting about different opurtunities reach out to Michael@FlagshipStudios.co. I’m always down to go on an awesome adventure with cool people.
Are you looking for NEW second shooters?
Some of my second shooters have gone on to become absolute rockstars in the industry! Including one that was just nominated for “Best New Wedding Filmmaker In The World.” I am always on the lookout for amazing people that fit our brand. If you’re interested reach out to Michael@FlagshipStudios.co.
Do you outsource your editing?
As of today, I am still editing 100% of our films. I’m very jealous of our photo friends and their ability to use AI for post production. I cannot wait for that to make it’s way into the filmmaking world.
How do I ……
